Portraits taken by the greatest Hollywood and New York photographers, including Clarence Bull, Arnold Genthe, George Hurrell, Ruth Harriet Louise and Edward Steichen, comprise Greta Garbo’s stunning private collection. These photographs used as part of the Hollywood studio publicity and marketing efforts were given to her as part of her contract with MGM.

In 2005 a lavish book with eighty full page photographs of Greta Garbo was published by Rizzoli in four languages.  Garbo - Portraits from Her Private Collection was written by Scott Reisfield and Robert Dance. The publication documents her film screen career of twenty eight films, and traces her evolution as an actress and icon of beauty and style. This remarkable collection of never-before-published photographs from Garbo's own collection features a dramatic array of tritone portraits that capture the diverse dimensions of the star throughout her incredible career, and is accompanied by a complete filmography and analytical essays.
